Short Profile:

Eliot Wright is the Director of the Language Centre at Edge Hill University, UK. Eliot leads all strategic matters related to the University’s Language Centre including the MA TESOL, its pathway programmes, English Language Teaching and training projects, academic literacy support for international students on and off campus and the centre’s suite of foreign languages.

Eliot has been in education for over twenty years, starting out as an English teacher in Australia before moving onto to teach in Thailand and Japan. Eliot then held management positions in language schools in Poland and the UK. Since migrating into higher education, Eliot has been in leadership and teaching positions working for the University of Nottingham at their international branch campus in Ningbo, China, as UCLan’s Academic Head leading a franchise partnership with Hebei University, China and with Muscat University, Oman leading its pathway programmes preparing students to study on an undergraduate degree in partnership with Aston University, UK and for postgraduate studies with Cranfield University, UK.

Eliot possesses an MA, BA, DELTA, CELTA and is a Senior Fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), a Chartered Manager (CMgr) and a Fellow of the UK’s Chartered Management Institute (FCMi). Eliot is pursuing his doctorate in educational leadership. Eliot’s educational interests revolve around leadership in higher education, learning and teaching, and matters related to transnational higher education.
