Dr. Al Jayyar is a professor of Criticism and Comparative Literature, Faculty of Arts, Beni Suaif University, Arab Republic of Egypt. 

He is a literary critic, translator, member of the Literary and Linguistic Studies Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture since 2015, an active member of the “Cairo Atelier”, a member of the Board of Directors of the “Story Club”, and one of the founders of the “Reading Association for Criticism and Translation”. 

He holds a postdoctoral degree in Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature in 2010 from the University of Chicago in the United States of America  

He held the position of Undersecretary of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and head of the publishing sector at the Egyptian General Book Organization.
