Dr. Maryam Alhinai

Short Profile:

Maryam Alhinai is an assistant professor at Sultan Qaboos University. She holds a PhD in ecocultural/ environmental communication from the University of New Mexico, USA. Maryam holds a Master’s degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages from Middlebury Institute of International Studies, California. Her research focuses on ecocultural communication, sustainability education, ecopedagogy and critical discourse studies. As an assistant professor at SQU, she holds more than two decades of experience teaching English communication skills to university students. In addition to her university teaching experience in Oman, she has experience teaching English as a second language in the USA to international students both in adult schools and college ESL programs. In her teaching, she likes to integrate community-based learning, active learning, cooperative learning and new media tools. Her professional experience also includes curriculum design, teacher training, assessment development, instructional technology and e-learning.
